NYC City Hall Wedding - New York Elopement - Christine and Steve

How did Christine and Steve pick their wedding date? They waited for an inspired moment.

These two got engaged 7 years ago and knew that they would tie the knot when something spoke to them. They planned a trip to visit New York from their home in the UK, and only after buying the plane tickets did they decide that they’d love to elope at City Hall. They didn’t tell a soul (until afterwards of course), and I was their legal witness.

Christine and Steve, you are the reason that I love my job so much. To be invited into such an intimate experience is truly an honor, and I don’t take it lightly that you trusted me not only to photograph your wedding but to insert my person into your experience. The love between you two is so evident, and I’m thrilled to present you with this sneak peek from your New York City elopement. Enjoy!

I actually shed a few happy tears as Annabel was proclaimed the “star of the show” on Masterchef UK. It was as if she was my good friend, but the truth is that we had never met in person. Annabel found me on Instagram, and she and Richard thought I’d be the perfect fit to photograph their elopement in New York City when they visited from the UK.

For the entire year leading up to their wedding, Annabel and I liked each others’ posts, watched each others’ stories, sent each other plenty of DMs, and basically felt like we were becoming good friends, despite having never met or even spoken. When this bride-to-be had her big star turn on TV, I was already totally invested, and the love-fest heightened.

When I finally met Annabel and Richard on the morning of their wedding, it was like being reunited with old friends. Richard was the warm and friendly, quietly confident gentleman that I saw online, and Annabel was that firecracker with a heart of gold that I got to know from TV and DMs.

Not only did I photograph their wedding, but I was also their only guest and the witness to their marriage. The most important thing I witnessed was the consistent respect, love, and admiration with which these two treat each other.

Annie and Richard, it was an absolute joy getting to spend that magical day in New York City with you two. I love that you are so easy to laugh and that you also thrive on the dramatic photos that were so much fun to capture. You two are stars. Congratulations on your marriage, and I hope you enjoy these sneak peek photos!

There’s something so beautiful about an intimate wedding. Carolyn and Blake had two: their ceremony at City Hall and an intimate dinner a few weeks later. And just for good measure, we took photos in Washington Square Park with their adorable pup Teddy!

Carolyn and Blake, I’m so thrilled for the two of you. Something that really stood out to me was how in sync you are with each other. I’m honored to have been able to capture these beautiful moments with you, and I’m so excited to share this sneak peek of photos. Enjoy!

“So how did you two meet?”

Normally it’s a question I ask months or even years before a wedding. In this case, I was getting to know Reed and Balmeet during their portrait session in Fort Tryon Park, after I had already had the honor of photographing their abundantly joyful ceremony that morning at City Hall.

You see, at 10:30 pm the night before, I got a text from their best man, who was frantically looking to find a photographer after theirs bailed at the last minute. Just my luck to stumble into a wedding day filled with so many laughs and two kind and beautiful grooms.

Reed and Balmeet, if you two handle a wedding day with this much grace, kindness, and good humor, I can only imagine the ease and fun that you bring to everything you do. You were somehow so laid back while also being so vibrant, present, and full of life. I'm so happy for you, and I hope you enjoy this sneak peek of photos!

City Hall & Upper Story Wedding - NYC- Jen and Ben

City Hall Upper Story Wedding NYC Photographer

There was a subtle shift when Jen and Ben were reunited during their first look (the moment the bride and groom see each other for the first time on their wedding day). Sometimes the moment is big, full of boisterous laughter; sometimes it’s small, full of tender tears. With Jen and Ben, the moment was subtle, and the impact was far more powerful when taken in context.

Once the two were together, there was this one-ness, this calm sense of teamwork that felt so natural, as if the two were always on the same wavelength. As with all weddings, there were exciting moments, ups and downs, laughter and tears. But what struck me most was in the moments of quiet between Jen and Ben; there was a persistent and palpable frequency always running between the two of them.

Jen told me on our very first phone call that once she finally went and met Ben for their first date, “that was the end.” They were together every day and every night from that point. After sharing their wedding day with them, that makes perfect sense.

Jen and Ben, you know I’m totally in love with you two. I love that your wedding was not about your wedding; it was about your union. I’m so honored that I got to document your day, and more than that, I feel so lucky to now be in your lives.

Enjoy this sneak peek.  :)
